Virtual Tax Preparation :

 

As a client, you will be able to upload all tax documents into a secure server so that our certified tax preparers can complete your taxes.

Who is Eligible?

 

Who is eligible to use Virtual VITA?

 

  • Taxpayers who make less than $58,000 per year.
  • Individuals who are filing their current year 2019 taxes and prior years.
  • Taxpayers who wish to renew their ITINs and file the current year tax return.
  • Taxpayers who wish to amend a previous year tax return.

 

Who is NOT eligible to use VITA Taxes to Go?

 

  • Taxpayers who use the Married Filing Separately Status.
  • Taxpayers who have rental income.

What Technology will I need?

 

  • You will need a smartphone or a computer to complete required forms, scan or photograph your tax documents to be uploaded to your designated folder, and to verify your identity.
  • You will need access to a stable internet connection as well as a working number and email address.

How long will the process take?

 

You will need at least 30 minutes to complete the intake sheet, Virtual VITA consent form, and expense sheet (if applicable).

After your taxes have been uploaded, the time frame to complete and review your return will be around 72 hours, depending on the complexity of your return.

Will I need to schedule a phone/video call appointment?

 

Once your tax return has been completed and quality reviewed, we will contact you to schedule a video conference call with a tax preparer. This will be necessary in order to verify your identity. During this video call, we will go through your return before you can sign the consent to e-file your return.

Is it safe to submit my documents via VITA To Go!?

 

Your privacy and security is the most important part of this process.
  • File request upload links will only be made available to the taxpayer.
  • We will be sending your return to you via an encrypted pdf that only you will be able to access.
  • Our organization uses an IRS issued software called TaxSlayer, which provides multiple security measures to authenticate the login of one of our certified tax preparers.
  • Once a return has been transmitted and accepted, the client data will be wiped clean.

How Virtual Tax Preparation  Works:

Our Virtual Tax Preparation is best for clients who have access to a computer or a smartphone.

 

1. Fill out the Google Form with your contact information:

Apart from your tax forms, you will also need to fill out the IRS Intake Sheet (Form 13614-C), the Virtual VITA Consent (Form 14446) and if applicable, the Self-Employment Expense sheet:

Did You Have Marketplace Coverage for the Tax Year you are presenting?

 

If you had health coverage through the Marketplace (Obamacare) you will need to upload your form 1095-A. This form would have been mailed to you at the beginning of the year.

 

If you had Marketplace coverage but did not receive a form 1095-A you have two options:

 

    1. Log into your HealthCare.gov account.
    2. Under “Your Existing Applications,” select your 2019 application — not your 2020 application.
    3. Select “Tax Forms” from the menu on the left.
    4. Download all 1095-As shown on the screen.

You can use the following form to fill out when you speak to an agent:

2.  You will receive an email within 36 hours of submitting your contact information on the Google Form with your personal file request link.

 

Please NOTE: We cannot guarantee this response time during the weekends.

 

Using a scanner or your camera phone, save pictures of your tax documents.

 

Documents can be uploaded via a smartphone or a desktop computer.

3. Once you have submitted your documents, our tax preparers will begin to complete your return and have it quality reviewed.

 

If a tax preparer has a question regarding a part of your return, they will attempt to contact you with your main form of communication.

 

 

4. Once a return is being quality reviewed, we will call to schedule a follow-up Video Review Call. This call will be to verify your identity and to go over your return.

 

If you are filing as Married Filing Jointly, BOTH spouses must be present for the review call.

5. Once a review call has been set up, you will receive an encrypted pdf of your tax return via email. Your tax preparer will walk you through your return and you will be able to sign the Form 8879, allowing us to e-file your tax return.

 

Once the return has been signed, you will receive a signed copy of your return for your records.

 

6. After you have signed Form 8879, our tax preparers will transmit your return to the IRS and you’ll be on your way to getting your tax refund!

 

We continue to monitor our tax returns to make sure they have been accepted by the IRS. If for some reason your return is rejected, we will reach back out to you to fix the error.
